DEPARTMENT: TRANSPORTATION
POSITION: TRUCK DRIVER
WORK RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties of the Truck Driver as determined by SunEnergy1 standards are to include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for transporting cargo from one place to another using tractor-trailer trucks or other company owned vehicles as needed

Operate trucks with a capacity of at least 26,001 pounds gross vehicle weight

Deliver cargo while operating a tractor-trailer truck, sometimes over intercity routes, intrastate

Load and unload cargo

Keep truck, and associated equipment, clean and in good working order

Report serious mechanical problems to the appropriate personnel
-
Report to a dispatcher any incidents encountered on the road

Monitor road conditions and watch for traffic congestion

Plan routes using maps or satellite tracking; get cargo to site on time, safely

Follow accident procedures if an accident occurs

Follow all applicable traffic laws
-
Perform pre-trip inspections and record any defects found
-
Keep a daily log of activities
-
Record amount and type of cargo being delivered

Transport hazardous materials
WORK REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid CDL Class-A license required

Minimum of 3 years of experience driving a Commercial Motor Vehicle

Hazmat and Tanker endorsements preferred

Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations

Willing to submit to background/drug checks and provide employment recommendations

No recent moving or driving violations

Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly

Ability to multi-task

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Must be able to relate to people
