HIGH SCHOOL SPANISH Teacher – Summer School (Innovative and Dynamic)
Location: Memorial Area
Compensation: Open
Employment type: Part-time / Seasonal (Summer School)
Job title: High School Spanish Teacher – Summer Program
An additional position is open for an innovative, high school Spanish teacher with experience teaching HIGH SCHOOL level or above at a highly selective niche school (WEST Memorial Area – Kirkwood & I-10).
Memorial Private School, grades 6th–12th, established in 2004 and accredited by Cognia/AdvancEd/SACS, is a private faith-based school in west Houston. Memorial Private is a warm and friendly place to work, with a structured, rigorous college-prep environment, differentiated by reducing stress while soaring in academics and social development.
MPS limits the student body to about 55–65 students each year to retain our close, family-oriented atmosphere. Our focus is on top-quality academics and moral education, alongside individualized attention for each student within a structured classroom setting.
We are seeking a Spanish teacher for our Summer School program. The right candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong classroom presence, and self-initiative. Requirements include prior experience teaching high school Spanish (Spanish I–IV and/or AP level preferred). High school teaching experience is required. Please do not apply if you have not taught at the high school level.
You must be comfortable teaching various proficiency levels, depending on summer enrollment needs. We are looking for innovation, enthusiasm, and someone who will be an outstanding role model for our students. We count on you to make Spanish engaging, applicable, and enjoyable. Curriculum guidelines will be provided, and you are encouraged to enhance and adapt lessons creatively within the summer format.
Because we maintain a small teacher-student ratio, you will have ongoing one-to-one and small group interaction with students. A typical summer school day may be intensive and requires flexibility, organization, and the ability to manage diverse responsibilities. Our small school environment and teaching methods are unique, innovative, challenging, and highly rewarding.
The MPS stand-alone school building is located in a beautiful area next to a park in WEST Memorial, surrounded by other schools. Even during summer sessions, we value positive student engagement and meaningful mentorship.
Our students are typically average-to-above average in academic ability and college-bound. Some students may attend summer school for advancement, credit recovery, or reinforcement. As a teacher, you will challenge students academically while mentoring them with moral guidance and supporting their growth.
This position is for the Summer School term only. Specific dates, goals, and objectives will be discussed with the selected candidate. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish or a related field is required, preferably with high school teaching experience.
Please consider your drive time if you do not live on the WEST end of town (see map on website).
If you have strong leadership and communication skills and meet the requirements above, please email your resume. We would love to hear from you!
