Job Summary
We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Optometric assistant/technician. Previous experience in the medical field is required along with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a genuine passion for our mission. Family Eye Wellness is a private, independent optometry practice committed to providing exceptional eye care. We specialize in pediatric care and vision therapy, offering comprehensive services in a welcoming, family-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with the intake process to ensure accurate medical records.
- Prepare patients for examinations by performing preliminary tests including refraction, visual acuity assessments, and ocular measurements.
- Aid in front desk operations by scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, processing payments, and managing medical billing and coding tasks.
- Providing exceptional customer service to patients of all ages, particularly children, ensuring their comfort and well-being during their visit
- Assist our doctor with scribing.
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned (including managing reception desk, cleaning of the office, cross-training as needed)
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in patient care with excellent communication skills to create a positive patient experience.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and security of medical information
- Previous eye care experience is highly desirable for understanding eye anatomy and medical terminology.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as EyeCloudPro or other electronic health record platforms.
- Basic understanding of medical records management, medical coding, billing processes, and pediatrics is a plus.
- Experience as a technician or medical scribe is highly desirable
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a warm and inviting demeanor that reflects our family-oriented atmosphere
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with a genuine eagerness to engage with patients and their families
- Enthusiastic, flexible and adaptable, with a passion for learning and a commitment to personal and professional growth
- Empathic and caring nature, especially towards children, demonstrating patience and understanding in all interactions
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and good typing skills
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
