Position Summary
The Department of Liberal Arts at Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor in International Studies. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses that support the College’s general education curriculum and promote students’ understanding of global cultures, international systems, intercultural communication, and contemporary world issues.
Vaughn College serves a diverse student population preparing for careers in engineering, aviation, management, and technology. The International Studies curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, written communication, information literacy, ethical reasoning, and global awareness within a technologically interconnected world.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate International Studies and related Liberal Arts courses in on-campus and/or online formats
- Prepare course syllabi and instructional materials aligned with departmental and institutional learning outcomes
- Foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment that supports student success
- Assess student learning and maintain accurate academic records in a timely manner
- Utilize instructional technologies and the College learning management system effectively
- Participate in departmental assessment activities as requested
- Maintain regular communication with students and department leadership
- Support the College’s mission of academic excellence, professionalism, and student-centered instruction
Qualifications
Required
- Master’s degree in International Studies, Political Science, Global Studies, History, Sociology, Cultural Studies, or a closely related field
- Demonstrated college-level teaching ability
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Commitment to working with a diverse student population
Preferred
- Familiarity with instructional technology and online teaching platforms
- Interest in interdisciplinary approaches connecting global studies with aviation, technology, business, or engineering contexts
Salary:
Undergrad:
$900 per credit hour (non PhD)
$925 per credit hour (with PhD)
Graduate:
$950 per credit hour
$625 per lab hour
