Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Colorado Springs, CO

About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, repair, rebuild, and service of a wide range of construction equipment. You will utilize your expertise in hydraulics, diesel and gas engines, electrical systems, and welding to diagnose issues and perform high-quality repairs, ensuring equipment operates safely and at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities

Install, service, and repair construction equipment systems, including hydraulics, brakes, engines, and electrical components

Diagnose, rebuild, and repair engines, motors, and related mechanical systems

Perform disassembly and reassembly of equipment and components as needed

Utilize arc welding and oxy-acetylene equipment for fabrication and repair

Accurately complete service reports documenting:
- Work performed

Parts and materials used
-
Time spent and labor details
-
Equipment model and serial numbers
-
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
-
Adhere to all company safety standards and report equipment malfunctions or hazards
-
Communicate repair needs and equipment status with the Service Manager

Continue developing technical skills through training and educational opportunities
-
Assist team members and support shop operations as needed
Work Environment & Requirements
-
Work performed both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
-
Ability to travel as needed, including occasional overnight stays
-
Frequent standing, bending, and lifting (up to 100+ lbs occasionally)
-
Standard schedule is Monday–Friday, with overtime as required
Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent technical training required
-
Minimum 10 years of heavy equipment technician experience or combination of experience and technical education

Strong understanding of:
- Diesel and gas engines
-
Hydraulics
-
Electrical systems
-
Proficiency in safely using hand and power tools

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics

Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
-
Must be able to obtain a Colorado Class B CDL
Preferred Qualifications

Welding experience (arc and oxy-acetylene)

Experience in a heavy equipment dealership environment

CDL (Class B or higher)
