Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Food Purchaser to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing high-quality food products to ensure our operations run smoothly. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of food procurement processes, excellent negotiation skills, and a passion for quality ingredients.
Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers to ensure the best quality and pricing of food products.
- Negotiate contracts and terms with vendors to secure favorable agreements.
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Conduct regular market research to stay updated on food trends and pricing fluctuations.
- Collaborate with customers to understand their needs and preferences for food supplies.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all purchasing activities.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier information, and inventory levels.
Requirements
- Proven experience in food purchasing or procurement, preferably in a distribution or wholesale environment.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build lasting relationships with suppliers.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices is highly desirable.
- Proficient in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
