Title: Senior Private Credit Fund Accountant
Location: New York, NY (Remote)
Duration: 4- 6 Months
Position Summary
Client is seeking a Senior Fund Accounting Consultant to provide leadership across Books & Records, NAV oversight, and operational transformation initiatives supporting Private Credit investment strategies.
This consultant will serve as a senior operational resource responsible for strengthening fund accounting processes, improving administrator performance, reducing operational dependencies, and leading remediation efforts across the Books & Records environment.
The successful candidate will combine deep fund accounting expertise with strong project management and operational improvement experience.
Key Responsibilities
Fund Accounting Leadership
- Lead daily NAV oversight activities in partnership with the fund administrator.
- Review cash, position, accrual, and profit and loss reconciliations.
- Lead investigation and resolution of complex reconciliation issues.
- Oversee monthly NAV validation and sign off.
- Review booking of fund level and investment level transactions.
- Maintain oversight of daily operational controls.
Operational Transformation
- Assess current administrator processes and identify operational gaps.
- Lead remediation initiatives designed to improve administrator independence.
- Reduce operational reliance on internal systems where appropriate.
- Recommend and implement operational process improvements.
- Develop and enhance Books & Records operating procedures.
- Partner with Operations, Technology, Portfolio Management, and external service providers to improve operational effectiveness.
Project Leadership
- Lead cross functional remediation initiatives.
- Coordinate work across multiple stakeholders.
- Manage project plans, priorities, risks, and dependencies.
- Provide operational leadership throughout transformation initiatives.
- Mentor junior consultants and provide subject matter expertise.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the end to end fund operating model.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
- 6+ years of experience in Fund Accounting, Books & Records, Fund Administration, or Fund Operations.
- Extensive experience supporting Private Credit or alternative investment funds.
- Prior experience working at, or directly with, fund administrators such as Citco, State Street, Apex, SS&C, or similar organizations.
- Demonstrated expertise in:
- Daily NAV production
- Cash management
- Position reconciliations
- Accrual accounting
- Profit and loss reconciliation
- Fund accounting operations
- Proven experience leading operational improvement or transformation initiatives.
- Experience managing cross functional initiatives and external service providers.
Preferred Technical Experience
Experience with one or more of the following:
- VPM
- IVP
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with AI productivity tools such as ChatGPT or Claude is a plus.
