REGISTERED NURSE CONSULTANT
MUST HAVE OR GET DHS CERTIFICATION
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The registered nurse acts as consultant to the direct care staff regarding health needs of the residents, directs the maintenance of medical records, promotes the health maintenance of residents and staff, and provides In-Service training as requested by the Resident Services Director and/or Executive Director.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develops and implements medical records including medication administration sheets; records of medical/dental contacts, narrative notes related to health care; and self-medication programs.
2. Provides information about medications the residents are taking.
3. Determines the need for medical intervention during resident illnesses and contact the appropriate physician.
4. Accompanies residents to medical appointments as needed.
5. Supervises medical treatments.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Illinois. Basic sign language skills, previous experience with the developmentally disabled, and previous experience in working with deaf individuals preferred.
