Extracurricular Coaches – Cheerleading and Drumline Description
Icon Preparatory School is a college preparatory private school serving students in grades K–8. More than 90% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price meals, and the majority of our student population is African American or Hispanic.
We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced individuals to join our after-school extracurricular program as either a Cheerleading Coach or Drumline Coach for the 2026–2027 school year.
Coaches will provide a structured, engaging, and positive environment while helping students develop leadership, confidence, discipline, teamwork, school spirit, and performance skills. The ideal candidates are passionate about mentoring students and creating programs that promote excellence both on and off the field.
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday
12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
This posting includes two separate coaching opportunities. Applicants may apply for only one position and must clearly indicate whether they are applying for the Cheerleading Coach or Drumline Coach position.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with elementary or middle school-aged students is preferred.
- Ability to successfully complete all required background checks and pre-employment requirements.
Cheerleading Coach Applicants
- Previous cheerleading coaching, instructional, or competitive cheer experience is required.
- Ability to teach cheer fundamentals, routines, performance techniques, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Drumline Coach Applicants
- Must possess either:
- At least one (1) year of drumline instructional experience, or
- At least two (2) years of experience performing in a marching band drumline.
- Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge and experience in HBCU-style drumlines.
