Midtown Cafe & Dessertery has been part of the Winston-Salem community for more than 30 years. We are a full-service restaurant serving scratch-made breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and desserts in a welcoming, fast-paced environment.
We are currently hiring experienced Line Cooks and Prep Cooks to join our kitchen team. We are looking for dependable people who take pride in preparing quality food, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and supporting their teammates during every shift.
What You’ll Do
Depending on your experience and assigned position, responsibilities may include:
- Prepare and cook menu items according to Midtown recipes, portion standards, and presentation expectations
- Complete daily prep, including chopping, slicing, measuring, mixing, and portioning ingredients
- Set up and maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked workstation
- Follow recipes and production lists to ensure consistency and reduce waste
- Communicate clearly with cooks, prep staff, managers, and the expo team
- Work with a sense of urgency during busy breakfast, lunch, and dinner service
- Monitor food quality, freshness, cooking temperatures, and portion sizes
- Label, date, rotate, and properly store food using food-safety procedures
- Follow all sanitation, cleanliness, and health-department standards
- Assist with opening, closing, cleaning, and restocking duties
- Support other kitchen stations and team members as needed
What We’re Looking For
- At least one year of line cook, prep cook, or similar professional kitchen experience
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced restaurant
- Strong attention to food quality, consistency, and presentation
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and established kitchen systems
- Clear communication skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and carry kitchen supplies
- Availability for day, evening, and/or weekend shifts
