Duties
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote independence and hygiene.
- Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to support health assessments.
- Support residents with memory care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer's care, utilizing specialized techniques to ensure safety and comfort.
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols and document all medication activities in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling equipment to ensure safe transfer and mobility assistance.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements while maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area.
- Engage residents in social activities, behavioral management strategies, and group programs to foster community involvement and mental stimulation.
Requirements
- Proven experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments.
- Knowledge of caring for individuals with developmental disabilities, geriatrics, dementia, or memory care needs.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as medication administration or behavior management are a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle physical tasks involved in caregiving duties.
- Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation; experience with group home or personal care home settings is advantageous.
- Valid driver’s license for driving residents or clients when necessary; clean driving record preferred.
- Strong communication skills, patience, empathy, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team dedicated to providing exceptional care.
