The Job Coach/DCS supports individuals with developmental disabilities in ABLE’s vocational programs, enabling them to lead healthy, independent, and productive lives as fully as possible, promoting full community inclusion and the full exercise of their rights as citizens of their communities, state, and country.
Supporting day-to-day operations of the vocational programs provided in accordance with ABLE’s policies and procedures and all monitoring agencies, such as the Department of Human Services (DHS) and Developmental Disabilities Services (DDS), Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA), Occupational Safety Health Administration (OHSA), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and other federal, state and local governing bodies.
· Serves as a role model for service recipients and co-workers, setting a positive example in all areas.
· Fosters self-esteem, self-worth, confidence and human dignity in the individuals receiving support.
· Applies logic, common sense and good judgment in a variety of situations that are concrete and/or abstract where limited standardization exists;
· Routinely provides both written and verbal communication with other staff members.
· Understands and follows agency confidentiality policy.
· Reads, understands and completes all documentation, timely and accurately on all forms as required (ex: ABLE forms, IPs, incident reports, medication administration records and daily documentation);
· Provides supports in all areas of vocational and/or daily living programs as prescribed in the service recipient’s IP (i.e., household chores, social skills, money management);
· Provides supports to individuals in all areas of self-care and personal hygiene, as indicated in personal IP’s, including but not limited to: toileting, brief changing, bathing, applying deodorant, brushing teeth, combing hair, ensuring clean, proper clothing according to weather conditions, and mealtime assistance.
· Provides transportation for service recipients to work, home and other various sites in Norman, Oklahoma while following all safety rules and completing mileage documentation for all trips.
· Attends all scheduled trainings as required by DDS and ABLE; providing ABLE with documentation/training certificates upon completion.
· Responds to emergencies affecting service recipients, including administering CPR and using approved intervention techniques.
· May be assigned extra duties (i.e. safety, janitorial) to maintain efficient work or home environments for the service recipients. In the event an extra duty is assigned, it will be attached and become part of his/her job description.
