Job Title: Staff Accountant
Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for the production of schedules and reconciliations for use in preparation of the monthly financial statements. The Staff Accountant will perform advanced accounting functions in support of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Inventory. The ideal candidate will also have experience supporting international accounting operations, including cross-border transactions, currency reconciliation, and compliance with international reporting standards.
Reports To/Supervisor: Controller
Knowledge, Skill, and Experience:
Knowledge of standard Accounting principles and procedures. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, as well as applicable Accounting software. Ability to communicate with the Sales Team, Accounting Department, and other company departments to ensure consistent data entry and management.
Experience in international accounting or global business operations is strongly preferred.
Minimum Education (if required):
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum Experience:
Two (2) or more years of Accounting experience. International experience preferred.
Essential Functions:
- Assist with preparing monthly international financial reports and statements.
- Oversee the international Accounts Payable and Account Receivable functions.
Job Requirements:
- Work closely with Controller and Chief Financial Officer in preparation of monthly financial reports and statements.
- Perform monthly Balance Sheet account reconciliation and associated journal entries.
- Reconcile month end trial balances to financial statements received from international accounting firms.
- Complete month end closing duties of accounting software.
- Reconcile international bank accounts.
- Accounts Payable: Review vendor statements and follow up on past-due invoices or credits due. Enter “Advances” into ASI for credit card payments to vendors not set up on terms or for deposits required for large orders. Initiate Bank wire transfers. Download card statements, validate charges with and collect receipts from cardholders monthly.
- Account Receivable: Review order costing reports and issue invoices to customers. Submission of invoices into appropriate client portals. Assist sales team and customers with edits and changes to invoices.
- Prepare VAT/GST documentation and provide to international accounting firms.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor.
- Follow attendance and guidelines stated in the employee handbook.
- Keep all company proprietary information internal and confidential.
- Work in a respectful and professional manner.
