About the Position
We are a busy heavy-duty repair shop specializing in the repair and maintenance of tractor-trailers and commercial truck. We are looking for dependable, organized, and customer-focused Service Writer/Service Advisor to join our team.
The Service Writer is the primary connection between our customers and technicians. This person will be responsible for communication with customers, writing repair orders, coordinating work with technicians, providing estimates updates, along with helping to keep jobs moving efficiently through the shop.
We are looking for someone who can communicate professionally, stay organized in a fast-paced environment, and understand that downtime matters to our customers.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and determine their repair and maintenance needs.
- Create accurate and detailed repair orders
- Document customer complaints and requested repairs clearly for technicians
- Communicate with technicians regarding diagnostics needs, parts needs, and job status
- Prepare repair estimates and obtain customer authorization
- Keep customers informed of repair progress, additional repairs, costs, and expected completion times
- Schedule incoming repairs and help prioritize shop workload
- Coordinate with the parts department to ensure needed parts are ordered and available
- Review technician notes, labor and parts before completing repair order
- Prepare completed jobs for invoicing and customer pickup
- Maintain accurate customer, vehicle, and repair records
- Handle phone calls and customer inquiries professionally
- Help resolve customer concerns when they arise
- Work with management and technicians to improve shop efficiency and customer service
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Service Writer, Service Advisor
- Experience in heavy-duty truck, tractor-trailer, diesel, automotive, equipment, or fleet repair
- Basic understand of diesel engines, air brake systems, electrical systems, suspensions, preventive maintenance, and general tractor-trailer repairs.
- Familiarity with repair orders, labor estimates, parts, and shop management software
- Experience in service management or service writing roles preferred.

Pay: $61,847.64 - $74,483.18 per year
