Overview
We are seeking an energetic and reliable Shop Assistant & Driver to join our dynamic team! Duties
- Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials within the yard using equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks
- Safely load and unload trucks, ensuring proper handling of heavy or bulky items following safe lifting practices
- Operate work trucks for delivery routes, adhering strictly to traffic regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Deliver goods to job sites efficiently while maintaining professional customer service throughout each interaction
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, including delivery confirmations via mobile devices
- Support shop and yard operations by organizing inventory, managing manual handling tasks, and preparing material for various jobs
- Load and secure cargo properly to prevent damage during transit, ensuring compliance with weight handling regulations
Qualifications
- Previous experience or familiarity with material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or manual handling tools is preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience with commercial truck driving
- Ability to back up a trailer and/or flatbed into the yard
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, traffic laws, and safe lifting practices to ensure compliance and safety on the road and in the warehouse
- Strong customer service skills with a professional attitude
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks regularly while maintaining safety standards
- Experience with route driving using mobile devices for navigation and communication is advantageous
