The Calibration Technician is responsible for the calibration of measuring and production equipment. This position will ensure calibration activities are completed to reduce equipment or manufacturing downtime.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Guarantee the calibration level of all measuring and important production equipment.
- Ascertain the consummation of calibration test records.
- Review records on calibration faults and ensures that calibration activities are executed professionally and efficiently to reduce equipment and/or line downtime.
- Act as the field guide for contracted calibration technicians and guarantee their quality and productivity are always impressive.
- Discuss and relate with clients and stakeholders concerning the schedule and impact of work being executed.
- Help administration through modification and transformation performances.
- Carry out maintenance for and support troubleshooting and restoration of precision test appliances.
- Obtain, compile, gauge, summarize, and document data compiled during calibrations to assemble calibration reports and records.
- Specify out-of-tolerance conditions and execute corrective action via adjustments and unit replacement.
- Communicate with other technicians, administration, internal customers, device manufacturers, and dealers.
- Help with installations and deliveries as assigned.
- Survey calibration SOPs for precision during routine calibration or when a different instrument is installed into the calibration database.
- Make sure all work arrangements are closed out properly and include the required data, reports, and documentation.
- Build and modify calibration procedures for both existing and recent equipment and handle investigations into failed calibration techniques.
- Update and develop plant work instructions for specific tasks and ensure alignment proper standards and regulations.
- Establishes active work instructions and updates, documents any necessary changes to the materials.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent experience required. Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Engineering Technology, or another technical subject preferred.
- 3 years experience calibrating, inspecting, measuring, and testing equipment is required.
- Strong knowledge of using Microsoft Office is essential.
- Experience reading/interpreting schematics and mechanical drawing.
- 3 years experience in measuring maintenance equipment and devices preferred.
- Time Study and labor standards experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Able to read, speak and write English.
- Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Able to work under stressful conditions at times.
- Strong decision-making, organizing, and problem-solving skills, as well as the capacity to pay attention to details.
- Capacity to travel when instructed.
- Specific vision abilities required include depth perception with the ability to focus. Close vision is needed to work on the computer system.
- Must possess good hearing as needed for work and safety compliance. The noise level could be moderate to very loud.
- Occasionally required to work near moving mechanical parts and equipment.
- Exposure to hazardous or toxic material may occur.
- Sitting – at desk or computer station, standing, walking, speaking, hearing – frequent
- Bending/Stooping, twisting, lifting – occasional
- Able to stand/walk 10-90% of work day.
- Gripping, reaching, writing, fingering (data entry), handling (paper, files, etc) – frequent
- Able to write and follow detailed, written instructions.
- Fine Motor Skills - typing, 10-key, ability to write for extended periods of time.
- Communication – verbal and written communication.
- Seeing - able to see the computer screen.
- Climbing - able to go up and down stairs.
- Position will require a minimum of 40 hours per week unless otherwise directed by supervisor.
