Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Wound Care Physician, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our wound care practice. The Wound Care Specialist will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing wound care treatments for patients with various types of wounds. This role requires a strong understanding of wound care and wound healing principles, and the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Hours and Scheduling
The position is open to both full-time and part-time candidates, as well as to those seeking contract, per diem, locum tenens, or other specialty situations. It is ideal for those seeking a better work/life balance, flexible hours, moonlighting opportunities, and other specific arrangements.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' wounds and overall health status.
- Develop individualized care plans based on assessment findings and evidence-based practices.
- Administer appropriate wound care treatments, including dressing changes, debridement, and infection control measures.
- Educate patients and their families on wound care management and prevention strategies.
- Collaborate with nurses, medical assistants, other providers and healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
- Monitor and document patients' progress, adjusting care plans as necessary.
- Stay current with advancements in wound care techniques and technologies through ongoing education and training.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to wound care practices within the facility.
Requirements
- Wound care experience in either inpatient or outpatient settings. Having both is preferred, but a minimum of only one is required.

- Certification in Wound Care (e.g., WCC, WOC, CWCN, CWS) is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong clinical assessment skills with a focus on wound healing principles.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients and collaborate with the healthcare team.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and demonstrated ability to document patient interactions in a clear and accurate manner.
- Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
- Previous experience in wound care or related nursing field is an advantage but not required.
