Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Church Accountant to oversee the financial operations of our faith community. In this vital role, you will manage all accounting functions, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and provide accurate financial reporting to support the church’s mission and growth. Your expertise will help maintain transparency, uphold financial integrity, and facilitate effective budgeting and resource management. Purpose
To provide accounting services to the church, its preschool, and its Hispanic Ministry.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Weekly Offerings: Count offerings, make a bank deposit, and record each gift in the gift records system.
- Bi-weekly Payroll: Process payroll and deductions, and prepare payroll reports.
- Weekly Reporting: Prepare and send weekly reports to the finance team and ministers.
- Church Administrator: Truist Bank, Southern Bank, Realm, ACS (Automated Church Software), and Highground Advisors
- Endowment Accounting: Quarterly reconciliations and reports, quarterly transfers, annual distributions
- Semi-annual: Mail giving statements, prepare sales tax reimbursement
- Annual: Prepare W-2’s and 1099s, annual workers' comp audit
- Input annual operating budget
- Research and provide special reports as requested.
- Meet with church members and answer questions about their personal giving.
Education and Experience
Prefer at least an associate’s degree in accounting.
Prefer prior experience with a church or non-profit organization.

- Proficient with office and spreadsheet software
- Knowledge and experience in payroll and payroll reporting
- Experience with fund-based accounting software
- Experience with a church database and gift record system
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and basic accounting rules
- Knowledge and experience in preparing financial statements
