CNC Machinist – Wire EDM Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist with strong Wire EDM expertise to join a precision manufacturing team. This position is ideal for a machinist who requires minimal training and can quickly contribute by learning the products being manufactured. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience setting up, operating, and programming CNC mills, lathes, and Wire EDM equipment while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and Wire EDM machines to produce high-precision components.
- Program, edit, and troubleshoot G-code and conversational programs at machine controls.
- Select, install, and align tooling, fixtures, attachments, and workpieces.
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on CNC and EDM equipment.
- Complete production records, quality documentation, and material tracking forms.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment while following OSHA and company safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience setting up, operating, and programming CNC mills, lathes, and Wire EDM machines.
- Strong experience with Wire EDM setup, operation, and programming.
- Proficiency programming and editing G-code at the machine.
- Experience working with Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T requirements.
- Strong shop math, trigonometry, and precision measurement skills.
- Experience using inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Makino CNC machines.
- Familiarity with EDM software such as Esprit, Mastercam, or similar platforms.
- Experience machining ceramic materials.
- Background in precision manufacturing environments such as aerospace, medical devices, automotive, tooling, mold & die, or related industries.
Additional Information
- Compensation: $51,000 – $70,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
- On-site position in Knoxville, Tennessee.
- Relocation assistance is not available.

- This role is best suited for a highly skilled machinist capable of working independently with minimal training.
