Duties
- Operate tractor-refrigerated trailers safely across over-the-road (OTR) routes.
- Load and unload freight with precision, utilizing manual handling techniques and equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries while optimizing fuel consumption.
- Transport following all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) guidelines.
- Comply with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, including hours of service, vehicle inspections, and safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and cargo documentation in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues promptly.
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving across various terrains.
- Knowledge of truck loading/unloading procedures, logistics cargo handling, and truck loading equipment.
- Familiarity with FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for perishable goods.
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks comfortably and handle manual handling tasks safely.
- Strong navigation skills using GPS systems to follow designated routes efficiently.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance; previous experience with refrigerated trailers or specialized trucks is a plus.
