Operational Manager Storage and backup

Take part in a team effort to support 24x365 backup operation and management and be responsible for ensuring that we are adhering the backup policies and backup schedule.
- Assist with management of available capacity to ensure no delays are realized due to lack of resources. This will include compute, storage, and network bandwidth requirements.
- Work with multiple teams to analyze and develop detailed plans for the migration of services to alternative hosting locations where applicable. Focus will be on cloud technologies where possible.
- Communicate weekly updates to IT Continuity manager on status of backup operations and ongoing projects.
- Where possible, identify improvements in migration processes and implement automation to reduce time and resources required to complete the tasks.
- Ensure all change management processes are followed as required and ensure all asset management processes are followed as required, including the decommissioning and disposal of equipment no longer used.
- Apart from migration, manage health checks of backup and replication every day, and fix any issue that arises to ensure backup and replication SLAs are met
- Identify repeatable operational tasks and issues; create automated resolutions to these situations to reduce operational overhead within the virtualization function as well as other enabling areas as required.
- Optimization and performance of hardware infrastructure.
- Experience using Avamar DPA to provide backup and replication reports and relevant dashboards
- Ability to implement best practices to drive business continuity, high availability, backup, data recovery and disaster recovery
- Effectively implement changes to procedures that drive meeting SLA’s and KPI’s.
- Ability to influence the team and senior leaders to accept new approaches
- Motivated to obtain and maintain certifications
- Excellent communication skills. Strong ability to communicate opportunities both orally and written to technical and non-technical audiences;
- Ability to operate in a structured environment
- Able to prioritize multiple initiatives in an agile environment
- Domain expertise: Enterprise Backup & Recovery systems / Enterprise Replication and Disaster Recovery technologies / DPM / Other Enterprise Backup & Recovery Solutions OR strong expertise on working and troubleshooting Windows/Azure/Linux VMs related issues.
- Experience with Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery, Azure Migrate, On-Prem Backup and restore, Virtualization, VMWare, Networking, Infrastructure
- Experience with Power Shell or Python or similar scripting languages
- Industry experience with Microsoft® Windows operating systems both current and legacy (preferred) and System Center Suite
- Working knowledge of System Center Data Protection Manager, or other Backup solutions in the industry
- Strong knowledge of Windows / Linux / UNIX
