American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) with Level 1 Trauma and Epic experience for a hospital OR position focused primarily on orthopedic surgeries.

Hospital operating room setting with a focus on orthopedic surgical cases
-
Day shift, 10-hour shifts (7:00AM–5:00PM), 4 days per week with day off TBD
-
On-call required: 4 to 8 shifts per 4-week period, including weekday evenings and weekends
-
Holiday on-call shifts are 24-hour shifts; the holiday itself serves as the scheduled day off during holiday weeks

40 hours per week

Epic EMR experience required

Level 1 Trauma experience required

Client credentialing is required for this position

Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology required

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through NBSTSA required

Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) through the National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA) required

BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required

Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience required

Level 1 Trauma experience required

Epic EMR experience required

License required if applicable

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Functions as the primary surgical assistant to the surgeon, and when needed, as first or second surgical technician or second circulator under RN supervision

Applies principles of asepsis and maintains a sterile environment throughout all procedures
-
Assists surgeons during procedures including suctioning, tying, camera holding, and retracting
-
Performs closures of all skin layers and demonstrates knowledge of closure techniques
-
Collaborates with surgeons and OR team to ensure all trays, instrumentation, and supplies are prepared prior to each procedure
-
Assists with patient positioning, supply and equipment organization, and room turnover
-
Provides age-specific care to obstetrical patients per departmental policies
-
Participates in scrubbing duties, including cases involving medical students and residents
-
Engages in quality assurance, performance improvement, and infection control activities as needed
-
Candidates who have previously been on assignment with this health system may not return until after a 6-month break in service if they have been continuously assigned for 1 year or more
-
RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
