We are looking to hire drivers from Chicago IL region additionally in the Springfield MA area as we do Midwest to east coast loads each week in a cycle.
Responsibilities
- Operate tractor-trailers with manual transmission along over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Safely load, secure, and unload freight, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and hazardous materials (hazmat), following proper manual handling procedures.
- Use GPS navigation systems to plan optimal routes, monitor traffic conditions, and adjust travel plans as needed for timely deliveries.
- Transport a variety of cargo such as Reefer products or specialty items across long distances while maintaining high safety standards.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections and routine vehicle maintenance checks to ensure tractor-trailer safety and operational readiness.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and cargo handling records in compliance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or any issues encountered during transit.
Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License A with clean driving record and proven experience in commercial truck driving.
- Demonstrated expertise in operating tractor-trailers with manual transmission in various conditions.
- Experience in route driving involving freight delivery across multiple states or regions.
- Knowledge of refrigerated trailers, flatbed loads, tankers, hazardous materials regulations (hazmat), and dangerous goods handling.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time tracking.
- Ability to load and unload freight manually or using appropriate equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, and hazardous materials regulations.
