Position Overview
UNMH is seeking a Clinical Dietitian – Adult Inpatient to join our Food and Nutrition team at the University of New Mexico Hospital.
As an Adult Inpatient Clinical Dietitian, you will provide evidence-based Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) to hospitalized adult patients while working closely with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a dietitian who enjoys acute-care clinical nutrition, complex patients, and collaborative patient care.
What You'll Do
- Perform nutrition screenings and comprehensive nutrition assessments
- Develop individualized nutrition care plans for adult inpatients
- Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy based on patient diagnosis and nutritional needs
- Monitor and reassess patients at nutritional risk
- Review diet histories, oral intake, laboratory values, physical findings, and anthropometric measurements
- Assess and monitor enteral and parenteral nutrition support
- Provide nutrition education to patients and families
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and patient care planning
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation
- Use evidence-based research and best practices to support patient outcomes
- Participate in quality improvement, education, committees, and other departmental initiatives
- Support the education and development of dietetic interns and other learners
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 6 months of directly related experience
- Registered Dietitian credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration or eligibility
- New Mexico Dietitian License or Provisional Dietitian License
- Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
