Job Summary
Our client is looking for a Senior Estimator to take ownership of labor and material estimates for complex exterior facade and custom unitized curtain wall projects. You'll work closely with Sales, Project Management, Engineering, and Field Operations — and you'll be expected to bring both technical depth and leadership to the table, mentoring junior estimators as the department grows.
What You'll Do
Scope & Analysis
- Take the lead on reviewing architectural and engineering documents to define full project scope.
- Flag and document any non-standard elements that require special attention or creative solutions.
- Work cross-functionally to develop practical, cost-effective approaches.
- Ensure awarded contract scope stays true to what was originally proposed.
Estimating — Labor & Materials
- Own the full estimating process: review, validate, and sign off on labor estimates across shop, engineering, field, and PM functions.
- Oversee material takeoffs and specifications, including extrusions, dies, and finishes.
- Evaluate vendor pricing and make recommendations; ensure junior estimators are getting multiple competitive quotes.
Problem Solving & Vendor Relations
- Tackle complex project challenges in partnership with internal teams.
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships; step in to negotiate when scope, risk, or pricing needs resolution.
Project Handoff & Communication
- Manage a clean handoff to internal teams on awarded projects, with clear documentation of all pre-sale commitments.
- Keep stakeholders informed and decisions moving throughout the estimating lifecycle.
Team Leadership
- Mentor and develop Estimator I and II staff.
- Champion process improvements that increase accuracy and efficiency across the department.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of estimating experience in glass and glazing.
- Bachelor's degree in applied science or a related technical field preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, specs, and project management materials.
- Proven experience leading complex estimates and guiding junior team members.
- Working knowledge of engineering and architectural principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication; organized, decisive, and detail-oriented.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
