The part-time Church Administrative Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the pastor and church leadership. This position is often the first point of contact for members and the public. It ensures the smooth, confidential, and efficient operation of the church office. This role utilizes contact management software to assist with membership, event scheduling, and contributions management. The Church Administrative Assistant plays a key role in ensuring existing policies are followed, and that compliance is well documented.
Duties:
Administrative and office management
● Manage general office operations, including answering phone calls, responding to
correspondence, greeting visitors, scheduling facilities, and scheduling worship volunteers
(counters, greeters, ushers, liturgists, nursery).
● Act as the primary administrator for the Church Membership Software, ensuring data is accurate and up-to-date.
● Assist the Financial Secretary (or Treasurer/Finance Chair) in preparing bank deposits and, if necessary, making the deposit.
● Order and maintain inventory of office and church supplies.
● Assist the Pastor in the execution of duties as requested.
Communications
● Prepare and distribute the weekly worship bulletins and the eNote newsletter.
● Coordinate church-wide correspondence, including emails and mailings.
Qualifications and skills:
● Strong computer skills are necessary, and social media management is helpful.
● High school diploma or equivalent is required.
● Prior administrative or office experience is preferred.
● Excellent organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills.
● Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
● The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
● A self-starter who can work independently and prioritize tasks.
● A commitment to the mission and values of the church and a servant-hearted attitude.
Work environment
● This position is based in the church office, with regular in-office hours required.
● Interaction with staff, volunteers, and church members is frequent.
● The role offers a flexible schedule, with some evening or weekend hours potentially.
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
