American Traveler is hiring an Echo Technologist / Cardiac Sonographer for a non-invasive cardiovascular unit, requiring ARDMS or CCI (Echo) certification and a minimum of 3 years of experience performing adult echocardiograms.

Non-invasive cardiovascular unit in an acute care hospital setting

Primary patient population is adult cardiac patients
-
Procedures include 2D echocardiography, M-Mode, color flow Doppler, pulsed and continuous-wave Doppler, contrast echocardiography, stress echocardiograms (exercise and dobutamine), TEE assistance, and regional mobile echo/vascular service
-
May float to affiliated system hospitals including Methodist Hospital, Young Minds, Pekin Hospital, and Proctor Hospital

Day shift, Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts; shift start times vary between 6:45 AM and 7:30 AM
-
40 hours per week, 5 days per week

On-call rotation includes weekday call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 AM and rotating weekend and holiday coverage

Epic EMR experience required

Minimum of 3 years of applicable echocardiography experience

Associate's Degree in Ultrasound required

ARDMS or CCI certification in Echocardiography required

BLS (AHA) required

Epic EMR experience required

Proficiency in recognizing cardiac abnormalities, imaging artifacts, and distinguishing normal from abnormal findings
-
Knowledge of gross and sectional anatomy, patient positioning, breathing techniques, and transducer positioning
-
Proficiency with software-driven testing machines and digital archive systems
-
Ability to perform pediatric echocardiograms

License required if applicable

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Perform high-quality 2D ultrasound studies of the heart and great vessels, including identification of EKG abnormalities and arrhythmias
-
Utilize M-Mode, color flow Doppler, pulsed and continuous-wave Doppler, and contrast echocardiography techniques as clinically indicated
-
Assist cardiologists with transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE) and perform dobutamine and exercise stress echocardiograms
-
Assist with functional, pharmacological cardiolite, and echocardiography stress testing
-
Participate in callback rotation and mobile echo/vascular service regionally
-
Complete quarterly competencies in stress lab, Holter monitoring, and event monitoring
-
Correlate clinical history with the exam and consult with the cardiologist as needed
-
Document procedures accurately and communicate results to the cardiologist in a timely manner
-
RTO is not to exceed 7 days per 13-week contract

Travelers who have been continuously on assignment at this health system for 1 year must either convert to permanent employment or take a 6-month break before returning to any system location
