Position Summary
We are seeking certified Asbestos Abatement Supervisors to lead abatement projects in Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA. The Asbestos Abatement Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising asbestos removal and remediation work to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and in full compliance with Oregon and Washington state regulations, as well as federal OSHA and EPA requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily abatement operations on residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA standards, EPA NESHAP, and state-specific asbestos rules:
- Oregon: follow Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) guidance and licensing requirements for asbestos abatement contractors and supervisors.
- Washington: follow Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) rules and Department of Ecology guidance for licensed asbestos abatement professionals.
- Implement and enforce site-specific asbestos work plans, including containment design, negative-pressure systems, decontamination units, waste handling, and disposal procedures.
- Conduct pre-job surveys, risk assessments, and job-site inspections; verify materials, scope, and required notifications/permits are in place.
- Oversee setup and teardown of containment systems, air filtration units (HEPA), and decontamination units.
- Monitor air sampling protocols, coordinate with industrial hygienists or third-party air monitoring services, and act on monitoring results to protect workers and the public.
- Maintain accurate job logs, manifests, chain-of-custody documents, and regulatory notifications.
- Train, mentor, and supervise abatement crew members; enforce PPE, respiratory protection, and decontamination procedures.
- Ensure proper labeling, packaging, transport, and disposal of asbestos-containing waste per state and federal regulations.
- Respond to emergency abatement needs and work cooperatively with clients, building managers, and regulatory inspectors.

Minimum Qualifications
- Current asbestos abatement supervisor certification/license valid for Oregon and/or Washington (or ability to obtain state-specific supervisor authorization prior to assignment). Specific acceptable certifications include state-issued asbestos supervisor licenses and/or EPA-accredited supervisor training recognized by the state.
- Minimum 2 years’ field experience in asbestos abatement, including hands-on removal and prior supervisory responsibility.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA NESHAP, and state asbestos regulations and safe work practices.
- Experience with containment construction, negative pressure systems, HEPA units, decontamination units, and air monitoring protocols.
- Excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and proven leadership on site.
- Able to pass company background checks as required.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred
- Certifications in both Oregon and Washington asbestos supervision.
- Respirator fit-test qualification, OSHA 10 or 30, and other safety credentials.
- Experience working with third-party industrial hygienists and handling PCM/TEM air sampling procedures.

Note on Regulatory Compliance
Applicants must meet state licensing requirements for asbestos abatement supervisors in Oregon and/or Washington before supervising work in those states. EcoSafe will assist qualified candidates in attaining state-specific credentials when feasible, but candidates should already possess or be in the process of obtaining required state certifications.
Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
