We are seeking an experienced educator who is excited to spend part of the day teaching young children and part of the day helping lead a high-quality preschool program. This position must satisfy a specific Washington licensing requirement. Applicants must currently meet DCYF hiring qualifications for a child care center Program Supervisor and be able to verify their status through MERIT. Mandarin fluency is required.
About the Position
This is a unique hybrid role that combines classroom teaching with instructional leadership.
Approximately half of your time will be spent teaching preschool children in Mandarin. The remaining time will focus on supporting teachers, strengthening program quality, mentoring staff, and helping ensure smooth daily operations.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with children while also taking on meaningful leadership responsibilities within a collaborative and growing organization.
Key ResponsibilitiesClassroom Teaching (Approximately 50%)
- Teach preschool-aged children in Mandarin through engaging, developmentally appropriate experiences.
- Foster a warm, calm, and joyful classroom environment.
- Support children's social, emotional, language, and cognitive development.
- Build positive relationships with children and families.
- Model high-quality teaching practices and consistent classroom expectations.
Program Leadership (Approximately 50%)
- Coach and mentor teachers through observation, feedback, and modeling.
- Support classroom quality and consistency across the program.
- Help maintain daily operations and licensing compliance.
- Assist with onboarding and training new staff.
- Partner with school leadership to strengthen curriculum, routines, and program systems.
- Help cultivate a positive, collaborative, and professional team culture.
Qualifications
Required:
- Washington State ECE credentials or equivalent required qualifications.
- Professional proficiency in Mandarin sufficient to teach preschool-aged children.
- At least 3 years of experience teaching in an early childhood classroom.
- Leadership experience such as mentoring teachers, serving as a lead teacher, supervising staff, or coordinating educational programs.
- Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practice.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively while taking initiative and solving problems independently.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- Experience with language immersion, Montessori, Reggio Emilia, inquiry-based learning, outdoor education, or nature-based programs.
