Beacon Industries, Inc. is searching for an experienced Aerospace Machine Shop Operations Manager that is self-motivated and highly competent in the aerospace field. Beacon Industries is a build-to-print machine shop that specializes in machining medium to large, complex, airframe components for the commercial and defense aerospace industries.
The best candidates for this position will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in an aerospace operations management role and a resume that includes the following skill sets:
- Plans and supervises employees engaged in the machining of components according to planning and engineering drawings.
- Effectively lead and develop the CNC manufacturing and programming department.
- Communicate and work with cross-functional factory teams regarding safety, quality, and production to resolve manufacturing issues, improve manufacturability of product design, and identify and implement continuous improvements in the machining processes from concept to standardized production processes.
- Assess necessary skills needed, identify gaps, and develop and manage training plans to meet business and team development needs.
- Conduct performance appraisals, issue commendations and corrective actions and address complaints/resolve problems for all direct reports.
- Establishes and monitors production schedules, resolves production problems, and coordinates and expedites the completion of special orders.
- Monitor the inventory and ordering of production materials, tools, and supplies and ensures that production machines and other equipment are maintained to provides for a smooth production flow and optimization of costs.
- Responsible for developing and executing financial budgets for the machine shop including identifying future equipment and headcount requirements based on strategic long-term planning. Identify, justify, and implement new capital purchases to meet business needs.
- Responsible for recommending cost effective and capable manufacturing methods for new products and generating costs necessary to prepare sales quotes.
- Drive cost reduction and continuous improvement.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining SOPs and processing documentation for tasks being performed by the machine shop department.
- Assess new hires during probationary period to ensure they are receiving adequate training and are developing the necessary skills and experience.
- Responsible for: developing people; process improvement; cost controls, quality monitoring and improvements; and customer service optimization.
- Prepares timely and comprehensive reports including analysis of financial data, statements, and audits.
- Must be comfortable presenting to and working with customer representatives.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Perform similar job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- 5-10 years prior experience of production management in a manufacturing environment.
- High school diploma or GED required plus advanced technical training or higher education.
- Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; ERP/MRP experience preferred.
- Strong problem solving, facilitation and communication skills (verbal and written).
