Caregan Transport is seeking an experienced and highly organized Safety Director to lead all safety, compliance, and risk‑management functions across our fleet. This role is central to maintaining our strong safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting our drivers with professionalism and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance — Oversee FMCSA/DOT compliance, audits, reporting, and corrective actions.
- Driver Qualification Management — Maintain DQ files, MVRs, PSPs, Clearinghouse checks, and medical certification tracking.
- Safety Training & Coaching — Conduct onboarding, ongoing training, and remedial coaching for drivers.
- Accident & Incident Oversight — Lead investigations, root‑cause analysis, documentation, and insurance coordination.
- Telematics & Performance Monitoring — Review Samsara alerts, HOS compliance, speeding, harsh events, and coach drivers accordingly.
- Policy Enforcement — Maintain and enforce company safety policies, handbooks, and disciplinary guidelines.
- Risk Reduction — Analyze safety trends and implement targeted improvements.
- Cross‑Department Collaboration — Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Recruiting to ensure safety is integrated into daily workflow.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years in transportation safety, compliance, or fleet management.
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and HOS regulations.
- Experience with ELD/telematics platforms (Samsara preferred).
- Excellent communication, documentation, and coaching skills.
- Ability to manage investigations and high‑pressure situations professionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a trucking carrier safety department.
- Familiarity with Alvys, Orderful, or similar dispatch/EDI systems.
- Accident reconstruction or claims‑handling experience.
- Safety certifications (NATMI, Smith System, etc.).
Pay: $15.00 - $35.00 per hour
