Responsibilities
- Assist customers in selecting eyeglasses, ensuring a personalized experience that meets their needs in a friendly & knowledgeable fashion; patient satisfaction is one of our core goals here.
- Measure patients for the purpose of fitting eyeglasses for all types of lens designs in varied frame styles. Daily use of optical equipment, such as pupillometers and frame warmers.
- Support the fitting and adjustment of eyewear to ensure optimal comfort and functionality for each patient.
- Maintain detailed medical records in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems while adhering to clinical confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations.
- Submit vision insurance claims, pull authorizations as needed, provide detailed benefits summaries to patients, and properly charge copays. Plans include Davisvision, VSP, VBA, & more.
- Support laboratory processes such as repairs, frame adjustments, as well as lens verification to ensure high-quality product delivery.
- Manage retail sales transactions efficiently using POS systems and other healthcare-specific software, like Compulink & Weave while maintaining accurate inventory records.
Qualifications
- Prior optical retail sales experience or Opticianry experience in a retail setting is preferred; enthusiasm for customer service is essential.
- Some knowledge of optical equipment, such as pupillometers and frame warmers.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, medical billing, medical coding is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to patients of all ages—including pediatrics and senior care populations.
- Ability to learn how to work on unfamiliar optical equipment within clinical settings, if the need to train arises.
- Willingness to learn new skills related to medical records management, medical billing, and health regulation compliance in a fast-moving environment.
