Position Overview:
Horizon Science Academy is seeking a dedicated English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher to join our K–5 team. The ideal candidate will support students in acquiring English language skills while fostering academic growth and confidence. This position plays a vital role in ensuring English learners succeed in all areas of the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct instruction to English learners (ELs) in small group and/or push-in settings

Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with grade level standards and school curriculum

Assess English language proficiency using appropriate tools and monitor student progress

Collaborate with general education teachers to support ELs in the classroom

Communicate regularly with families, staff, and administrators regarding student progress

Maintain documentation and comply with state and federal regulations for EL programs

Foster an inclusive, culturally responsive classroom environment

Lead role in implementing ELPA testing
-
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Education
-
Valid Iowa teaching license with ELL endorsement

Knowledge of evidence-based language acquisition strategies
-
Knowledge of WIDA standards and English language development strategies

Strong communication and collaboration skills
-
Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse language and academic needs
