This position was originally posted to ratified STC SEIU members from 07/29/26 to 08/06/26. The position is now available to be filled by internal candidates that are not members of the ratified STC SEIU Bargaining Unit or External candidates to Sharp.
What You Will Do
The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) is a professional caregiver who performs cardiopulmonary diagnostics, therapeutics and monitors within his/her scope of practice per TCMC physician approved policies, procedures and protocols. This position maintains professional standards of conduct and ethics as outlined in hospital and department expectations and professional organizations. The employee provides education to patients, families, caregivers and other health professionals. The RCP demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patients'/caregivers' rights, as identified within the institution. Pulmonary Function Technologists may complete the same duties as RCPs and provide additional specialized testing of patients (PFTs). The RCP follows/adheres to guidelines of care.
Required Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Care

California Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP) - Respiratory Care Board of CA -REQUIRED

AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED
Preferred Qualifications

1 Year experience in acute care respiratory therapy

Experience in Bronchoscopy resourcing

Pulmonary Rehabilitation experience

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) -PREFERRED

Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
Provide respiratory care therapies or diagnostics to patients and maintains specific level of RCP I or RCP II competencies.
Provide respiratory education to patients, family members or other healthcare providers (all levels).
Ensure accurate documentation of therapies provided (all levels).
Ensure accurate charging for therapies provided (all levels).
Duties may include but are not limited to: General floor care, adult critical intensive care, emergency department, Rapid Response Team member, assisting with bronchoscopy, bedside pulmonary function testing or other diagnostic testing.
