Laboratory Technician
We are looking for a dynamic individual as a Laboratory Technician for our organization located in Sugar Land, Texas.
As a Lab Technician, you will support the engineering staff in performing rotary seal and valve testing, and/or flow loop testing. Tasks include assembling and running tests, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, recording, collecting, processing, and filing data samples. In addition to performing tests, you will support the seal production department by inspecting rotary seals. The hourly rate for this position is $22.00 to $32.00 based on qualifications. Additional compensation is provided in the form of benefits.
Duties:
Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure integrity, quality control, and safety
Recognize and report safety issues
Develop and perform seal and valve testing, including water flow loop testing
Assemble, disassemble, and maintain multiple test fixtures
Run and maintain data acquisition software
Maintain calibration equipment and records
Assist with testing and calibrating lab equipment in preparation for specific tasks
Inspect various test components, equipment, and instrumentation
Generate and maintain test notes
Analyze retrieved data and prepare reports
Assist with monitoring inventory levels of testing related components
Clean, organize, and maintain the laboratory
Assist in building maintenance
Relevant Experience:
Position requires 2 to 5 years of technician/mechanic/I&C/electrical related experience.
Education/Training:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Associate degree or vocational training preferred.
Mandatory Skills/Qualifications:
Competent with common technician/mechanic tools
Knowledgeable of common instrumentation: pressure regulators, gauges, transducers, load cells,
thermocouples, and liquid levels
Capable of accurately documenting tests: objective, procedure, setup, results/notes, conclusions
Capable of working with a team
Able to attentively follow written instructions to ensure personnel and equipment safety
Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet goals
Capable of troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation problems
Willing to meet on-call obligations as needed
Able to communicate effectively through reading, writing, listening, and speaking
Proficient with MS Office applications; Word, Excel, and Access
Recommended Skills/Qualifications:
Knowledge of Quality Management System (ISO) requirements
Familiar with data acquisition hardware; analog input cards, signal conditioners, analog-to-digital converters
Capable of wiring test equipment: load cell meters, RPM meters, etc.
Able to interpret drawings and wiring schematics
Familiar with piping schedule and valve pressure classes
