Responsibilities
1. Lead and manage multiple tax engagements to deliver quality tax services for our clients.
2. Preparation and review of federal and state income tax returns for individuals, businesses, benefit funds, real estate, and exempt organizations.
3. Build new and existing client relationships and demonstrate knowledge of client business.
4. Prepare internal memoranda, written correspondence/guidance, private letter rulings and other documents for submission to the IRS or Treasury Department.
5. Train staff, review and evaluate their work.
6. Manage, direct and monitor multiple tax engagements teams on a variety of tax issues, including planning, consulting and compliance.
7. Review tax returns prepared by staff and make recommendations on return preparation regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities; gain increasing responsibility in review process.
8. Conduct top-level review of T/R and resolve all tax issues with client; involve specialists where appropriate.
9. Handle client tax questions, and work with clients to collect necessary information for tax return completion and compliance.
10. Stay informed of current tax developments and effectively apply tax knowledge to client situations.
11. Thoroughly and accurately analyze information and prepare practical and creative solutions to client's tax situations.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. A Master’s degree or CPA designation is highly preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in public accounting or corporate/public blend.
3. Proficiency in use of computer tax preparation, research, and planning software programs.
4. Experience preparing and reviewing complex tax returns for 1120S, high net worth individuals, corporations, and partnerships.
5. Experience with federal and state tax, income tax, tax planning, and tax returns.
6. Excellent interpersonal communication and client service skills.
7. Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities.
8. Knowledge of tax code, compliance and procedures for corporations.
9. Familiarity with U.S. federal, state and local reporting requirements.
10. Strong leadership and personnel management skills.
11. Analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement creative solutions.
12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, solid research skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment and/or independently.
