Job Title : High School Jazz Band/Music Instructor
Job Summary: We are looking to hire a contracted music educator to lead the jazz program at one of our partner high schools for the 2026-2027 school year. The jazz band director will be responsible for teaching two jazz bands comprised of up to 20 students each for the entire school year. Highly qualified candidates will have experience teaching music in group settings, have strong behavior management skills, and be able to teach beginner students the basics of trombone, trumpet, alto sax, piano, bass, guitar, and drums.
A lot of the students will be learning their instrument for the first time. Instructors will be provided with Jazz Empowers' comprehensive beginning jazz curriculum to teach from.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and teach on the following schedule:
Mondays and Wednesdays from 12;41-2:21pm and every other Friday from 11:26am-12:50pm.
- Teach students the foundations of jazz, including ear training and improvisation.
- Communicate professionally with parents, school administrators, and Jazz Empowers staff.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Qualified candidates will need to hold at least a bachelor's degree in music, preferably with a concentration in jazz studies or music education.
Pay: Instructors will be paid a $2200.00 monthly stipend
