Position Summary
This individual is responsible for gathering and documenting essential medical information from the patient, performing a variety of diagnostic tests, and providing the ophthalmic provider with needed information to accurately assess the patient’s ocular health. This position is also responsible for creating a world class patient experience for each patient.
Expected compensation between $21.99 - $26.39/hour. Compensation will be determined based on relevant experience and skills.
Ophthalmic Assistant- Epic Essential Functions

Provides excellent customer service to patients and team mates

Responds appropriately and promptly to patient questions within scope of role

Efficiently and accurately works up patients for optometrists and ophthalmologists including but not limited to visual acuity, checking intra-ocular pressure, insertion of appropriate eye drops, tech external exam, refractions (using either Epic or manual phoropter), and a variety of special testing for dry eye, cornea assessment, visual field testing, and retinal imaging.
- Accurately documents information gathered during exam in accordance with AEC’s procedures and policies
- Assists providers in meeting governmental and coding requirements

Abides by all policies and procedures as outlined in AEC’s employee handbook

Troubleshoots patient concerns and testing results to efficiently provide appropriate and accurate information to the providers

Participates in regular team meetings to ensure effective team performance and advance inter-department communications; this may require work after hours

Responsible for ongoing professional self-development

Education & Licensing
-
High School Diploma, or equivalent, required
Experience
-
1 year experience in an optometry or ophthalmology setting preferred
-
1-2 years of experience in healthcare preferred
