Property Management Assistant - Handyman Skills needed
Full-Time | Entry Level | Field-Based
About the Role
Are you someone who loves variety, thrives on solving problems, and takes pride in keeping things running smoothly? Real Property Management Impact is a fast-growing property management company serving the Triangle area, and we're looking for a hands-on, tech-savvy Property Management Assistant to join our team.
No two days are the same in this role. You'll be out in the field supporting our Property Management team — conducting property evaluations, documenting conditions, knocking out small repairs, and keeping properties in top shape between tenants. If you love to tinker, you communicate well, and you're ready to learn the property management business from the ground up, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do
Property Inspections & Evaluations
- Conduct scheduled 6-month property evaluations for our portfolio
- Perform move-in and move-out inspections as directed by the PM team
- Document and compare property conditions between move-in and move-out
- Photograph and report findings clearly using our property management software
Repairs & Maintenance
- Perform light, non-technical handyman tasks including:
- Lock changes and re-keying
- HVAC filter replacements
- Minor plumbing (running toilets, leaky faucets, supply lines)
- Spackle, caulk, and touch-up paint
- Smoke detector and CO detector installation
- Power washing exteriors, driveways, and common areas
- Light yardwork and exterior upkeep
- Make repair recommendations and document items beyond your scope for vendor follow-up
Work Order Support
- Assist the PM team with work order management and field coordination
- Respond to daily direction and task assignments from the Property Management team
- Communicate status updates in a timely and professional manner
What We're Looking For
- A natural problem-solver who enjoys working with their hands and figuring things out
- Basic handyman skills and comfort with light residential repairs
- Strong written and verbal communication — you'll interact with tenants, owners, and vendors
- Tech-savvy and comfortable using smartphones, apps, and digital tools on the go
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks across multiple properties
- Reliable, professional, and positive — someone who shows up ready to learn and grow
- Coachable mindset and a team-first attitude
- Valid driver's license
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in property management, real estate, or residential maintenance
- Familiarity with property management software (AppFolio)
- Basic knowledge of landlord-tenant expectations in NC
Position Details
- Employment Type: Full-Time, W-2
- Schedule: Monday–Friday with occasional weekends based on property needs.
- Location: Field-based throughout the Durham/Raleigh Triangle area — this is a road role
- Compensation: Competitive salary position based on experience
