We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Legal Assistant to serve as the right hand to Firm Founder at a small but busy law firm. This role is centered around managing the attorney’s daily schedule, communications, and priorities to ensure optimal productivity and focus.
Candidates must be exceedingly organized and flexible with outstanding memory, verbal and writing skills and high levels of intellectual curiosity -especially about the law. Only candidates who can take initiative to solve problems and have the maturity to handle interactions with clients, opposing counsel and work well as part of a team will be considered. Litigation is stressful, and you must be able to handle responsibility and pressure and deadlines without drama or anxiety. This is a job for a tough, ambitious person.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to help manage the attorney's litigation caseload.
- Coordinate and maintain the attorney’s daily calendar, including court appearances, client meetings, internal deadlines, and personal appointments.
- Facilitate meeting deadlines by providing timely reminders for appointments and to-do's. Anticipate needs and proactively organize the attorney’s day by identifying urgent tasks with time sensitive deadlines, sending reminders, and adjusting priorities as needed.
- Ensure timely and professional communication on behalf of the attorney with witnesses, clients, colleagues, attorneys and courts.
- Assist in maintaining electronic and paper client files.
Skills
- Experience working in a legal setting or knowledge of the litigation process.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage a dynamic and fast-paced schedule.
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and able to exercise sound judgment under pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency of MS Office Applications and ability to work with other technology such as Adobe and client management systems.
