Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in pharmacy operations, with experience in various pharmacy settings including hospital, community, and LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy environments. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting pharmacists by preparing medications, managing patient data, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. Your expertise will contribute to providing safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care.
Duties
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, including sterile IV infusions and compounded medications.
- Manage medication inventory, ensuring proper stock levels and proper storage according to pharmaceutical regulations.
- Utilize pharmacy software systems for data entry, prescription processing, and maintaining detailed patient records.
- Assist in medication administration processes while adhering to aseptic techniques and sterile compounding procedures.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal healthcare regulations, including drug regulation laws and pharmacy laws.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions related to medication usage, side effects, and safety protocols.
- Support clinical pharmacy activities such as medication reconciliation, patient care documentation, and pharmacological medical terminology.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times while handling sensitive health information with integrity.
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Pharmacy Technician in LTC pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, or community pharmacy settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, drug regulation standards, and medical terminology is essential.
- Certification or licensure as a Pharmacy Technician according to state healthcare regulations is required.
- Experience with pharmacy software systems and data entry processes is necessary for efficient workflow management.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification is preferred to ensure readiness for emergency situations.
- Demonstrated understanding of sterile IV admixture procedures, aseptic technique, and compounding medications accurately.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in medication preparation and patient documentation.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in fast-paced environments.
