Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical therapists in developing and executing personalized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Perform therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques such as trigger point therapy, and assist with modalities to promote recovery.
- Operate medical equipment safely and effectively during treatment sessions, ensuring adherence to clinical standards.
- Document clinical assessments, treatment progress, and discharge planning accurately within electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining compliance with medical documentation standards.
- Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals—including physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists—to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Communicate clearly with patients and caregivers to explain procedures, address concerns, and foster a supportive environment for healing.
- Support discharge planning processes by providing detailed documentation of therapy progress and recommendations for ongoing care or home exercises.
Qualifications
- Valid certification or licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant (or equivalent credential).
- Demonstrated experience in physical therapy treatment implementation across various settings such as inpatient facilities, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, or home health environments.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, orthopedics, geriatrics, pediatrics, and medical terminology relevant to physiotherapy.
- Proficiency in clinical assessment documentation and medical documentation practices aligned with healthcare standards.
- Skilled in manual therapy techniques including trigger point therapy and other physiotherapy modalities.
- Experience operating medical equipment used in physical therapy treatments and managing electronic health records (EHR).
- Excellent communication skills for effective caregiver and client interactions; ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Prior experience with inpatient care, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, or home health services is preferred.
