Position Summary: Work includes all types of sheet metal. Individuals should be able to read and understand blueprints, communicate effectively with all other people on the project, including our sub-contractors, and represent TP Mechanical Contractors in a professional manner.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Coordinate, install and/or repair sheet metal and/or duct systems.
- Assists with the assembly and installation of HVAC equipment as necessary.
- Install hangars or supports for system.
- Perform field fabrication of sheet metal and/or duct systems and set up the specific task or project schedule. Make adjustments to work sequences to meet construction schedules.
- Manage materials to ensure timely completion of the work scheduled. Ensure optimal material consumption.
- Inspect work in progress and completed work to ensure conformance to contract and specification.
- Reads blueprints and interprets specifications.
- Keeps equipment in good working order and insures proper and timely maintenance is performed on equipment.
- Ensure the needs of general contractors, owners, and other customers as well as entrusted employees are met.
- Serve as a coach by monitoring and mentoring Apprentices and laborers with production and quality workmanship.
- Strengthen skills to encourage improvement in other sheet metal workers. Emphasize commitment to continually improve company procedures and processes in the best interests of the company.
- Follows all OSHA and TPMC standards for safety. Keeps work area clear of unnecessary clutter and performs routine clean-up as needed.
- Offloading deliveries and loading trucks at job sites.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience/Qualifications Required:
o 1+ year light commercial experience in sheet metal/HVAC field operations.
o Prior shop experience a plus.
o Stable work history.
o Ability to read blueprints.
o Knowledge of general sheet metal and HVAC installation.
o Ability to fabricate offsets.
o Working knowledge of all hand and power tools.
o Able to do basic take-offs.
o Able to install equipment.
o Works within precise limits or standards of accuracy and productivity.
o High School or GED equivalent
o Journeyman License a plus.
o Trade School a plus.
o Eyesight correctable to 20/50.
o Able to work long hours on feet.
o Able to lift and climb ladders and scaffolds.
o Able to perform shift work.
o Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 60 lbs.
o Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
o Must not be afraid of heights.
o Valid Driver’s License.
o Must provide their own basic hand tools.
o Able to operate heavy machinery.
o OSHA 10 certified.
