Position Overview
Broad Stripes Golf and Social Club is seeking a dynamic, service-driven General Manager to lead all aspects of club operations and help guide the property through its next stage of growth.
This position requires a hands-on, strategic leader with a strong understanding of golf operations, food and beverage, hospitality, community engagement, financial performance, and team development. The successful candidate will balance exceptional customer service with disciplined operational and financial management.
The General Manager reports directly to the COO and is responsible for delivering an outstanding experience for members, residents, daily-fee golfers, guests, and the surrounding community while strengthening profitability and long-term asset value.
About the Club
Located in Summerfield, Florida, Broad Stripes Golf and Social Club serves the Stonecrest community and is directly accessible by golf cart from anywhere in The Villages.
The Club offers an established golf course, clubhouse dining, tournaments, leagues, community events, and social programming. Broad Stripes is committed to improving course conditions, enhancing the clubhouse experience, expanding community participation, and creating an inclusive environment where residents, members, guests, and daily-fee golfers feel welcome.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive operating plan aligned with Ownership’s goals and financial objectives.
- Provide visible, hands-on leadership across golf, food and beverage, events, facilities, and administration.
- Identify opportunities to grow rounds, memberships, restaurant traffic, outings, tournaments, and social programming.
- Strengthen the Club’s relationship with Stonecrest residents, community organizations, golf associations, and local businesses.
- Assist Ownership with capital planning, property improvements, equipment needs, and long-term asset preservation.
- Establish measurable goals for each department and hold department leaders accountable for results.
Financial Management
- Prepare and manage annual operating budgets, capital budgets, and monthly financial forecasts.
- Monitor revenue, payroll, purchasing, inventory, and operating expenses.
- Analyze key performance indicators, including rounds played, average daily rate, membership revenue, food and beverage margins, labor ratios, event profitability, and customer participation.
- Implement cost-control measures without compromising service quality or the guest experience.
- Review financial statements and provide timely, transparent reporting to Ownership.
- Develop corrective action plans when departments are not meeting budget or performance expectations.
- Maintain strong internal controls for cash handling, purchasing, payroll, inventory, and vendor management.
Golf Operations
- Partner with the golf shop manager, staff and Golf Course Superintendent to provide a consistently enjoyable golf experience.
- Support membership growth, daily-fee play, leagues, tournaments, outings, and community golf programs.
- Develop creative programs to increase rounds and revenue during slower periods.
- Maintain strong communication between golf operations, agronomy, food and beverage, and event teams, Agronomy and Course Oversight
- Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to continually promote course conditions and maintain playability.
- Ensure maintenance activities are coordinated with tournaments, member events, and daily play.
- Support the development of short- and long-term agronomic plans.
- Communicate course projects, maintenance schedules, and operational impacts clearly to Ownership, staff, members, and golfers.
Food and Beverage Operations
- Provide leadership and oversight of dining and social experience through consistent service, menu quality, programming, and hospitality.
- Work with food and beverage leadership to improve revenue, food costs, beverage costs, labor efficiency, and overall profitability.
- Develop promotions, entertainment, themed events, holiday programming, and community gatherings that generate repeat business.
- Work with Food and Beverage Management to grow banquet, tournament, private-party, catering, and special-event revenue.
- Ensure proper inventory management, sanitation, food safety, licensing, and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor customer feedback and address service or quality concerns promptly.
Membership and Community Engagement
- Be highly visible and accessible throughout the Club and surrounding community, be the face of the club.
- Build positive relationships with members, Stonecrest residents, golf associations, leagues, guests, and community leaders.
- Respond professionally and proactively to customer questions, concerns, and feedback.
- Develop membership recruitment, retention, and engagement programs.
- Create regular and transparent communications regarding Club operations, course conditions, events, and improvements.
- Position Broad Stripes as a welcoming golf and social destination for both the Stonecrest community and the general public.
Sales, Marketing, and Revenue Growth
- Develop annual sales and marketing plans for golf, memberships, dining, outings, events, and social programming.
- Strengthen the Club’s digital presence, community outreach, promotional calendar, and local partnerships.
- Build relationships with businesses, charitable organizations, golf groups, event planners, and community associations.
- Track the effectiveness and profitability of promotions and marketing initiatives.
- Encourage cross-promotion between golf, dining, entertainment, and private events.
Team Development
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate department heads and key staff.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, hospitality, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular leadership and departmental meetings.
- Establish clear expectations, job responsibilities, service standards, and performance goals.
- Address performance concerns promptly and professionally.
- Promote communication and cooperation across all departments.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Facilities and Risk Management
- Maintain high standards for clubhouse appearance, cleanliness, safety, security, and preventative maintenance.
- Oversee vendor contracts, repairs, inspections, licenses, insurance requirements, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop emergency procedures and ensure employees receive appropriate safety training.
- Protect Club assets and identify operational or financial risks before they become larger issues.
Qualifications
- Three or more years of senior leadership experience in golf, club, hospitality, restaurant, resort, or recreational operations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a multi-department operation.
- Proven track record of improving revenue, profitability, service quality, and operational performance.
- Strong understanding of golf operations and golf course culture.
- Experience overseeing food and beverage operations, events, or hospitality services.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and cost-control skills.
- Demonstrated success recruiting, developing, and leading cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working with ownership groups, boards, homeowners’ associations, or community organizations preferred.
