Civixon Construction Solutions LLC is seeking a licensed Maryland Professional Engineer (P.E.) with a traffic engineering background to join our proposal team for upcoming municipal civil engineering contracts in Montgomery County, MD.
Note: This position is project-based, on-call, and contingent upon contract award.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of transportation infrastructure projects, including highway design, traffic signal systems, and transportation planning initiatives, ensuring compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and state transportation standards.
- Oversee project scheduling, resource allocation, and budget management to ensure timely delivery of high-quality engineering solutions.
- Utilize CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Bentley OpenRoads, and GIS platforms like ArcGIS to produce detailed system designs, transportation models, and construction documents.
- Manage multidisciplinary project teams through effective team management practices, fostering collaboration among civil engineers, transportation planners, construction managers, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct transportation simulation modeling to analyze traffic patterns and optimize system performance for various infrastructure projects.
- Prepare comprehensive technical writing for reports, proposals, specifications, and regulatory submissions while ensuring clarity and precision.
- Coordinate with contractors during construction management phases to monitor progress, address issues promptly, and ensure adherence to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safety standards.
- Provide on-call technical review and advisory support for traffic studies, signal design, traffic-calming plans, and pedestrian/ADA safety analyses.
- Review, sign, and stamp final traffic engineering deliverables as needed.
- Support proposal development by providing qualifications, project references, and technical input for municipal RFP responses.
- Coordinate with municipal staff and project teams on traffic control, signage, and roadway safety matters as needed.
Qualifications
- Active Maryland P.E. License (Required).
- 5+ years of relevant traffic engineering, transportation planning, or roadway safety experience.
- Familiarity with MUTCD, local/state DOT standards, and traffic-calming or Vision Zero frameworks preferred.
- Maryland Professional Engineer (P.E.) license with a focus on traffic or transportation engineering.
- Proven experience in transportation planning projects with a strong background in civil engineering principles related to highway design and transportation infrastructure.
- Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Bentley OpenRoads; GIS tools such as ArcGIS; and other relevant modeling platforms like Transportation simulation modeling tools.
- Familiarity with system design processes for transportation systems and experience managing complex projects from conception through completion.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and state transportation regulations governing highway design and traffic operations.
- Demonstrated ability in project management including scheduling, budgeting, risk assessment, and stakeholder communication.
- Excellent technical writing skills for preparing reports, specifications, proposals, and regulatory documentation.
- Construction management experience is highly desirable to oversee field activities effectively.
- Ability to lead teams efficiently while maintaining a focus on safety standards and quality assurance throughout project phases.
