What you'll be doing:
Seeking an "off the charts" motivated and detail-oriented new BSN graduate only (no LPNs) to attend to all aspects of surgical care in Newton, 25-40 hours a week. Looking for candidates who are first in their class and have a curiosity that is insatiable. If you LOVE a challenge, this job is for you. Willingness to learn to cut surgical slides is also a plus. This is NOT an easy job, it is challenging and it is hard work. Experience in surgery is not required and we are happy to train recent graduates. Energy and enthusiasm is a must.

The applicant will function as a clinical scrub nurse on surgical days, which will include reviewing pre- and post-operative instructions and preparing charts for the day of surgery, obtaining pertinent medical information such as anticoagulation medications, relevant labs, pacemakers/defibrillators, immunosuppressive history, etc. The applicant will also be responsible for responding to patient questions, managing surgical supplies, and ordering when the stock is low (anesthesia, sutures, laboratory chemicals, etc.), and communicating directly with the surgeon about patient issues.
On surgical days the applicant will be responsible for drawing up and administering local anesthesia, assisting in surgery, and coordinating follow-up appointments.
The ideal applicant is confident, mature, and able to think on their feet and anticipate next steps. In fact, anticipatory organizational thought is the key component to the success of this position. The applicant should be able to solve basic issues and triage clinical problems independently. The applicant must pay high attention to detail, be someone who always goes above and beyond, and is not afraid of long days, all of which are mandatory to keeping patients safe.
