Job Title: Dissertation Faculty - Chairs and Committee Member

William Woods University seeks qualified Dissertation Chairs and Committee Members to assist doctoral candidates in our Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership, Ph.D. in Business Administration, and Doctor of Business Administration programs.
The primary responsibility of the Dissertation Chair and Committee Members is to guide and manage the dissertation process from start to finish. The Dissertation Chair collaborates with each student and their Doctoral Committee Members to ensure the creation and execution of a solid applied research dissertation that adheres to accepted research practices, university policies, formats, and IRB requirements. Committee Members act as reviewers for the doctoral candidate's proposal and dissertation.
Dissertation Chair:
- Provide coaching and consultation to doctoral candidates on all aspects of their dissertation, from identifying topics to developing expertise in research methods, theoretical frameworks, and analysis relevant to the student's research.
- Ensure students adhere to deadlines and academic milestones.
- Offer constructive and regular feedback on dissertation drafts.
- Guide students in developing IRB applications and approve these applications before submission.
- Recommend resources to aid doctoral candidates in writing, research, and analysis.
- Collaborate with Committee Members, program chair, IRB members, and other university stakeholders to streamline the dissertation completion process.
- Perform tasks essential for the efficient review of student work, including proposal hearings, dissertation defenses, and providing guidance on presentation and defense techniques.
- Uphold ethical standards and promote academic integrity.
- Follow university and departmental expectations and guidelines.
Dissertation Committee Members:
- Participate in the dissertation committee and support doctoral students throughout the dissertation process.
- Provide expertise relevant to the student's research topic.
- Review dissertation drafts, providing constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement.
- Attend meetings with the chair and students as necessary.
- Communicate concerns and feedback promptly to the Dissertation Chair.
- Evaluate the student's dissertation defense and contribute to grading the final dissertation.
- Ensure a rigorous and fair evaluation process.
- Uphold ethical standards and promote academic integrity.
- Follow university and departmental expectations and guidelines.
- Doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership, Leadership, or a related field from an accredited university.
- Proven record of scholarly, intellectual, and professional contributions to the field of leadership or a related area, including peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
- Experience in serving on doctoral dissertation committees is preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and evaluate standard journals and documents.
- Ability to provide clear, constructive, and timely feedback.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including grammar, punctuation, sentence/paragraph structure, and APA style.
- Familiarity with current research methods, theories, and best practices in business research.
- Commitment and ability to foster a supportive and inclusive online learning environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other committee members and university staff.
- Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
