Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Armed Security Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in conflict management, loss prevention, and surveillance techniques. Ability to speak to customers and residents in a respectful manner but also be stern if the situation requires it. Conduct safe and effective patdowns when required. The Armed Security Officer must have flexibility in hours and be able to rotate between different contracted posts and work different shifts during the week, including weekends and holidays. Approved uniforms must be worn in accordance with dress code requirements.
Responsibilities
-Demonstrated competence with hand gun, hand cuffs, baton, taser, OC spray and two-way radios
- Patrol premises regularly to maintain a safe and secure environment
- Respond to emergencies and security incidents
-Occasional exposure to aggressive behavior and emotionally charged situations
-Abillity to Take initial information for an incident report, uses proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, notes only the facts, leaving out personal opinions and submits report in a timely manner (no later than the end of assigned shift)
-Frequent exposure to heat and cold from external weather conditions
- Enforces all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of Texas Metro Patrol and the laws of the State of Texas
- Conduct security checks and inspections according to procedures
- Report any suspicious activities or incidents to the appropriate authorities
-Be Familiar with Texas Private Security Statutes and Rules (Section 1702; Rule 35)
-Must be able to purchase or have required uniform/gear
Required: Duty belt, handgun, magazines and magazine pouch, ammunition, flashlight, handcuffs and pouch, black Kevlar vest, OD green cargo pants, brown work boots. Gear inspection will be performed by Training Lieutenant.
Optional: Tourniquet, body camera, taser (certification preferred but not necessary), OC spray (must have certification), baton (must have certification)
-Long periods of walking, standing, stooping, and lifting
-Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
-One year experience as an Armed Security Officer
- Prior experience in law enforcement or military is preferred but not necessary
- Possession of CPR and First Aid certificates is a plus
-Must possess Level III (Texas) certifications and pocket card
-High school diploma or its equivalent required
-Must be mentally alert at all times
-Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Must be able to make immediate decisions with regard to laws, policies and procedures.
-Must be able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize
-Must be able to handle personal stress and possible violence
-Successful completion of all pre-employment and post offer assessments to include the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory -2 (MMPI-2) and a clinical interview by a third person psychologist (must be complete prior to Private Security License Renewal)
-Will be required to take random drug test screening.
-Valid Drivers’ license
-Reliable transportation
