Being a dog bather at Furvana Pet Spa, isn’t just “getting to play with dogs all day”, although that’s definitely one of the perks! From fleas to matted fur to itchy dry skin, sometimes being a dog can be uncomfortable… but that’s why we’re here.
At Furvana Pet Spa, we help these dogs look and feel better, even if they don’t always understand that at the time. We strive to give our dogs the best experience possible while they’re under our care, and return to our customers a cleaner, more comfortable, and better looking version of their beloved fur-kid than the one they dropped off.
- It can be a challenging job sometimes, but for us, the wagging tails, puppy kisses, and smiling customers are absolutely worth the effort!
JOB DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Constantly ensures the safety, security and well-being of each pet. Handles pets with skill and care at all times.
- Washes dogs thoroughly using the proper conditioning and detangling products appropriate for the skin and coat.
- Blow dries and brushes out dogs.
- Clips and/or files nails.
- Complies with groomers’ requests and guidance to ensure the pet is optimally prepared for the groom.
Always interacts with customers in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.
- Maintains all records by typing notes about care, special needs, products used, etc.
- Practices timeliness: starts shift on time, and finishes baths/drying efficiently, ensuring the groomers have enough time to finish before the promised time.
- Conscientiously performs all aspects of the bathing/drying service to the expectations of quality set by Furvana Pet Spa.
- Bathes all dogs according to customer and groomers’ request using established procedures.
- Works in an organized and hygienic manner. Keeps work area free of hair and clutter, and sanitizes tools and equipment between pets.
- Understands the purpose of products and uses them appropriately (e.g. follows label directions), and assists in maintaining inventory by reporting stock levels.
- Treats equipment and tools with care and helps with simple maintenance. Reports any equipment issues in need of repair.
- Interacts well with fellow employees and follows all Owner‘s directives.
- Always endeavors to maintain as high a level of productivity as is possible while still adhering to safety & quality standards.
Helps meet demand by accepting additional baths/nail trims when possible.
- JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to frequently lift 40 pounds.
- Must be able to be on your feet eight hours per day.
- Must be able to handle dogs on leashes.
- Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant / sanitation chemicals, animal dander and excretions.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must have strong communication skills.
- Must possess a love of animals and patience when handling pets.
- Displays a professional manner at all times.
- Must take an initiative to learn and have a desire to always keep continuing education.
- Must be able to accept constructive criticism, in order to learn and grow.
EDUCATION:
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred, but not required.
EXPERIENCE:
- A background working with dogs is greatly preferred, but not required. We will provide on the job training as necessary for a candidate if selected.
