Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Automotive Service Manager to lead our service department. In this role, you will oversee daily operations, ensure exceptional customer service, and drive the profitability of our automotive service center. If you like cars, customers, and the feel of working in a small business look no further. Pay will be a combination between hourly and commission. Schedule will be Monday - Thursday 8am to 6pm. You may be required to work Fridays with advance or no notice depending on coverage.
Responsibilities
- Ensure smooth daily operations and high standards of service delivery
- Oversee vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance including oil changes, brake repair, suspension work, alignment, shocks & struts, and exhaust work.
- Drive upselling initiatives by identifying additional services or repairs that benefit customers while increasing departmental revenue
- Ensure accurate auto estimating and service writing to facilitate transparent communication with customers and proper documentation
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations and industry standards while managing inventory levels of parts and supplies
- Handle customer inquiries professionally, resolve issues promptly, and promote a positive customer experience through exceptional service skills
- Must be able to deliver both good and bad news to customers in a professional manner.
- Ability to track down and locate various odd parts including electrical connectors, components, and exhaust parts.
Requirements
- Proven experience in auto service writing with strong leadership skills
- Extensive mechanic experience with knowledge of automotive diagnostics, repair procedures, and mechanical systems
- Familiarity with computer-aided vehicle damage estimating software and auto estimating tools
- Solid understanding of automotive repair including transmissions, oil changes, alignments, suspension systems, shocks & struts, brake repairs, exhaust.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to upsell services effectively
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to drive various vehicle types
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in cash handling and administrative tasks
Since we are a small business you will have to perform the role of a Service Manager and a Service Writer. You will have an assistant at times depending on the flow of work. This is not a shop with hundreds of employees running around. Everyone has to be able to carry their workload, provide reliability in attendance, and work as a team.
Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
